These papers established a principle, which was later used by EASA in their published guidance on the compliance means for AI applications, describing how machine learning-based systems can be proven as safe, predictable, and fit for purpose.
2 A supplemental type certificate (STC) applies to modifications made to an existing aircraft (of a specific model). So, the flight software, databases, and all the hardware we build our systems on are subject to STC.
