How eVTOL OEMs and operators benefit from Daedalean's unique capabilities
Many advanced or urban aerial mobility or eVTOL systems are in development. They will make transportation faster with less noise and pollution, for local as well as regional commuting and cargo. Urban aerial mobility (UAM) will become a relevant player once safe, affordable and available. Safety, capacity (pilots, airspace, airports) and commercial viability require a scaling-up only possible with autonomous operations.
Key challenges for the UAM industry
UAM needs commercial air transport safety levels, e.g. no emergency off-airport landing permissible
Safety requires onboard autonomy without any dependency, e.g. C2-links can fail
Autonomous operations require dissimilar navigation, guidance and DAA
Pilots occupy payload, affecting range and economics

UAM will start with piloted operations, reduce pilot qualification needs and workload, then switch to full autonomy as soon as viable within a specific Operational Design Domain. Remote controlled civil aircraft will only be used for testing, in small areas, in segregated airspace, or for short flights.
Supporting the pilots' safety, performance, and workload with advanced pilot assistance systems (APAS), and eventual full autonomy (FA) without any pilot requires replacing step by step all elements of pilot training and equipment. Functionality and performance will be expanded at lower SWaP-C to meet all needs at the time aircraft OEMs and operators are ready for it.
